1. When planning to teach distance courses, faculty and/or deans must decide what delivery methods will be allowed for a particular course. Options can include any or all of the following:

  • DDN to specific site (UC, CUC, Pierre, other universities)
  • DDN to alternate sites (to be determined based on student enrollment)
  • Streaming video (synchronous or asynchronous)

 

2. Once this is determined, sections must be created in Colleague by departmental administrative assistants and the course listings must be sent to Media Services to be scheduled. There must be one section that is for the face-to-face campus students. Protocol for this section has not changed.

 

3. Colleague sections for off-campus receive sites should be coded as follows:

 

  • DDN to specific site: One section for each site should be created
    • Colleague code for delivery method  (Local Govt Code)
      • 025 for DDN send   (this is for the section on our campus)
      • 020 for DDN receive
    • Colleague Code for Receive site  (Topic Code)

USDSU – University Center in Sioux Falls

 CUC –  Pierre Capitol University

 PI – Pierre Bankwest

 BRMC – Brookings Main Campus

 

MDMC – Madison Main Campus

 RCMC – Rapid City Main Campus

  • Alternate delivery (streaming video OR Elluminate): One section for any alternate delivery

 

3.  Media Services will forward students to enrollment Services for undergraduate students and to the Graduate office for graduate students to handle admission to the school and registration in the class.

 

4. Prior to the first day of class, Media Services will run reports to keep track of registrations in specific sections.

 

5. Media Services/Help Desk will contact registered students, providing them account information as well as course access information.
